Partners

Alex Turik - Founder and General Partner

Alex founded HAN Capital in 2009. Previously employed as an analyst in JP Morgan’s commercial banking program, Alex saw a value-add opportunity in investing in distressed companies. Over the years, Alex has participated in over 500 million dollars worth of real estate transactions. Alex leads HAN Capital's acquisition and investment strategy as well as our capital and strategic partnership efforts. Alex received a BS in Finance and Computer Science from DePaul University and an MBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship and analytical finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. When Alex isn't working he is busy chasing his 4 kids and enjoys biking and hiking.

Nik Turik - Co-Founder and General Partner

Nik joined his brother Alex to co-found HAN Capital. Previously Nik was with Citadel Investment Group performing Risk Management analysis as well as Equity and Derivative trading. Nik leads HAN Capital's legal and finance departments. Nik received a BS in Finance and Computer Science from DePaul University and an MBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship and analytical finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. When he isn't working Nik is working out and playing with his 2 boys.

John Cooper - General Partner

John joined HAN Capital in 2012 as a project manager for several storage facilities and two years later became the third partner. Prior to this, John was a licensed stockbroker and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor with TD Ameritrade. John oversees the operations and construction teams for the entire HAN portfolio. John received a BS in Finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and managerial/organizational behavior. John enjoys spending time with his family and watching college sports.

Leadership Team

Tina McMahon - Sr. Vice President

Tina joined HAN Capital in 2014 as the office manager, supporting the owners and the operations of their six storage facilities. She quickly became the head of operations for the entire organization, continuously driving the expansion of the corporate foundation for HAN. Prior to this, Tina had spent over 15 years in various leadership roles within Mortgage Servicing, Customer Service, and Systems / Technology Support. Tina graduated Summa Cum Laude from Benedictine University with a degree in Organizational Leadership.

Brendan Hula - VP of Acquisitions

Brendan joined HAN Capital in 2020 as VP of Acquisitions, where he is focused on growing the company's portfolio of manufactured housing (MH) and RV communities. Brendan is a seasoned commercial real estate professional with experience in Acquisitions, Asset Management, and Development. He has previously worked for industry leaders such as Goldman Sachs (GS), the healthcare REIT Ventas (VTR), and Equity LifeStyle Properties (ELS). For the latter, Brendan oversaw a portfolio of 400 MH & RV communities and was responsible for maximizing portfolio NOI and underwriting and financial analysis of the company’s development, acquisition, and capital expenditure activities. Brendan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Real Estate and Urban Analysis from The Ohio State University.

Patrick McGill - VP of Development

Joining HAN in 2022, Patrick brought with him an extraordinary resume for completed projects across the U.S.  From extensive site development, underground utilities, site work conditions, foundations, core and shell and interior tenant installations, his building background has ranged from small renovations through large new build core and shell. His experience in plan creation, architectural and engineering execution lends the required “principal” client mandate for both quality controls, connecting the design and planning phase to completed building conditions. Patrick ensures proper controls for both project planning and in-process projects across the U.S.

Marketing and Technology Team

J Neathawk - AVP of IT and Infrastructure

J joined HAN Capital Group in the Spring of 2021 as the IT & Marketing Manager and quickly got to work building a new website from scratch that gives customers real-time info about product availability. Closing in on two decades in his field, J continues to stay active with new tech and even teaches at local colleges in his spare time. J has an MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Springfield where he focused on web development and security. With a history in the military and a previous career in mechanical engineering, J brings a unique set of skills to the team.

Chad Bring - AVP of Digital Marketing

Chad joined HAN Capital in 2022 after previously being our digital marketing consultant. He oversees all aspects of HAN’s self storage websites and finetuning our digital marketing strategy. Chad has more than a decade of experience with search marketing and web strategy in both B2B and B2C realms within eCommerce, software as a service, as well as lead generation.

Rick Free - AVP of Digital Marketing

Rick joined Han Capital Group in Fall 2023 as the digital marketing point person for Heartland Parks. He brings over nine years of experience in hospitality and tourism to the role, and is passionate about using his skills to grow and retain customers. In his free time, Rick loves to be outdoors with his family and is a certified whitewater rafting guide on the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle, PA.

Finance and Administration

Maureen Stanton - Office Manager

Maureen joined HAN in 2022 to support the corporate office in Lincolnwood, IL. She brought with her a great background of working in Chicago, from being the Private Liaison at the Art Institute of Chicago for VIPs to executive administrative work at The Chicago Board of Trade. Maureen has a passion for charity, traveling, and animals and shares her energy with everyone in the organization.

Bryon Hayes - Accounts Payable Manager

Bryon joined the HAN Capital team in 2021 as the Accounts Payable Manager. He grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Michigan in 1995 and to Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood in 2015. Bryon has been working in Property Management for over 25 years, doing Accounts Payable, specifically, for the past six years.

Jasmine Lindley - HR Assistant

Jasmine recently joined HAN Capital in June of 2023 to assist the head of human resources with our recent business growth.  She has a diverse background in human resources, accounting, and the administrative fields. With her experience, Jasmine will be able to assist our team throughout their employment.  She will help with employee hiring, onboarding, and benefits management. She will constructively manage our HR records and keep our HR department running smoothly. She has a passion for helping others and is a volunteer for Operation Heal our Patriots, Hearts of Valor through Operation Homefront, and Portraits of Love. She is also in the process of obtaining her 501c3 for her rescue of horses.

Samantha Cothern - Process Improvement Manager

Samantha joined the HAN team in 2018 as office manager and quickly climbed the corporate ladder and is now the designated Project Manager for the company. Samantha has an extensive background in residential real estate and property management which she uses daily to help improve the company's overall operations and processes. Samantha has a BA in communications which she earned from Northeastern University in Chicago. She received her Project Management certification in 2022 and has an active real estate broker's license. Samantha assists with the day-to-day projects that make our facilities run more smoothly as well as assisting the construction team with all renovation/expansion/new construction projects that add value to the overall portfolio.

Acquisitions and Asset Management Team

Brian Giammona - Investor Relations Manager

Brian joined HAN Capital in 2022 as an Investor Relations Associate. Brian has over 14 years of investor and client service experience in the wealth management industry working at UBS Financial Services and Morgan Stanley. Previous to that he worked in the portfolio management group at Hall Capital Partners for high net worth individuals, families, foundations, and institutions. Brian graduated from Colgate University with a degree in Economics.

Eric Thoman- AVP of Storage Operations

Eric joined HAN Capital in 2014 as a Storage Facility Manager at our largest facility in Chicago. His natural leadership skills drove a succession of promotions with Eric currently leading the entire storage portfolio as Operations Manager. Eric’s prior history includes many years of customer service and front office experience and even time as a youth sports coach. Eric received a BS in Kinesiology from Illinois State University with a certification to teach K-12.

Rob Nutting - AVP of RV Campground Operations

Rob Joined HAN Capital in 2023 as AVP of RV Campground Operations. Rob oversees the operations and projects for all HL campgrounds. Prior to this, Rob worked for KOA, Kampgrounds of America, as a Business Development Consultant for 1.5yrs and an Assistant General Manager for one of their corporate KOA parks in St. Pete, FL for 2yrs. Rob retired from the United States Air Force in 2021 after serving 20yrs. He carries an operational intelligence background along with aircraft maintenance. Rob has a bachelor’s degree in business management and an associate degree in aviation technology. Rob travels with his family full time and flies hot air balloons in his spare time. He carries a commercial lighter than air pilot license to operate his balloons. Rob’s favorite thing to do when not flying is hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

Tom White - National Manager RV Campground

Tom joined HAN Capital in 2013 as a Regional Manager overseeing four storage facilities in Northwest Indiana. He continued to manage new facilities we acquired and, at one point, was in charge of 25 facilities across six states. Tom was recently promoted to our new RV Campground division and will use his strong storage operations knowledge to continue to grow our portfolio. He was married in 2021 to a girl with whom he went to college and dated in the 1980s. They recently moved to Florida with their dog, Freddie, and their kitten, Mercury and are enjoying the extra sunshine!

Dave Piziali - AVP of Resorts and Communities

Dave joined HAN in 2022 as Asset Manager of RV Campgrounds and Manufactured Housing (MH) Communities.  Dave has worked over 10 years in the industry, successfully managing properties for the largest operators of MH. Prior to that, he spent over 30 years in Big Box project management, opening 21 new stores and markets for Wal-Mart and Lowe's across the country.

Justin Willis - AVP of Development

Justin joined HAN Capital in 2021 as our Nationwide Facility Maintenance Manager. He oversees the day-to-day operations of our maintenance technicians and ensures each property is upkept. Justin brings with him strong maintenance leadership experience and a great understanding of several skills and trades.

Jacquie Hacker - Regional Manager

Jacquie joined the Heartland Storage Group in 2019 as a facility manager at our Ozark, Mo. and Branson, Mo. properties. She became the Regional Manager in 2021, overseeing the over twenty storage facilities across Missouri. Prior to coming aboard she owned and operated a state licensed preschool and daycare center. Jacquie graduated with an A.A.S in Business Management.

Sam Hawkins - Regional Manager

Samantha (Sam) started with HAN Capital in 2015. She began by managing our store in Michigan City, IN and soon was the lead manager for all the Indiana storage facilities. Sam continued to grow and was promoted to Area Manager and recently to Regional Manager.
